A ‘Deportation Bus’ for Undocumented Immigrants

By Rondell Treviño, Founder, The immigration Project

Yesterday as I was on Twitter, I noticed a one minute commercial from Governor Candidate Michael Williams (Georgia) that was probably the most racist, xenophobic, disheartening thing I have seen when it comes to undocumented Immigrants.

Here’s the video:

I have watched this video over and over, and I cannot believe that a Governor candidate would generalize and stereotype all undocumented Immigrant (11 million) as murderers, rapists, kidnappers, and molesters. This video is pure evil and is incompatible with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How should we feel as Christians?

First, we must understand that there are indeed a small percentage of undocumented Immigrants who are in fact criminals, murderers, sex traffickers, and drug traffickers who do not want to change. Therefore, Biblical Justice would call us to encourage local officials to get them off of our streets.

However, the vast majority of undocumented Immigrants are good neighbors, Church members, tax payers, and individuals who made extreme sacrifices to come to the US for a better life. Now, this doesn’t mean they are excluded from obeying the law (Romans 13:1-4) because they are not–they do deserve some kind of significant fine for coming undocumented to the United States. But they deserve, as Biblical Justice says, protection and care as well because they are helping our country flourish.

Videos like the one above should make us mourn for the undocumented Immigrant community facing racism and xenophobia from others each day. We should be compelled to pray the Immigrant community.

The Church will not stand for hate like the video above.

The immigration Project inspires the Church to view Immigration and love Immigrants the way God intended.
