Saturday Night Live DACA Sketch

By Rondell Treviño, Founder, Memphis immigration Project‪

Saturday Night Live is an American late-night live television variety show. Each episode is hosted by a celebrity guest, who usually delivers an opening monologue and performs in sketches with the cast as with featured performances by a musical guest. An episode normally begins with a cold open sketch that ends with someone breaking character and proclaiming, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!“, properly beginning the show.

This past weekend, Saturday Live had a sketch call The Game of Life: DACA Edition. This sketch showed the complexities 1.8 million Dreamers and DACA Recipients have to face daily due to the broken Immigration system and a bipartisan solution not passed yet.‬

As funny at Saturday Live tried to be, everything they said in the sketch was a sad norm Dreamers and DACA Recipients have to live with for coming to the Unites States as young babies without any choice in the matter. The sketch shows everything these people created in God’s Image face for crimes they didn’t commit.
